- Welcome to Acorn User's CD copy of Acorn's anonymous FTP service.
-
- A number of the files in here are compressed using Spark rather than
- ArcFS. A copy of SparkPlug is provided which should read the files.
- However, in order to run any applications they will need to be
- dragged to another disc to de-archive them, as SparkPlug will
- not allow applications to be run from within archives (as ArcFS
- will). If you possess a copy of SparkFS, this should allow the
- applications to run.
-
- This copy of the server's contents was taken on 24/02/94; as with all ftp
- servers, the service provided at ftp.acorn.co.uk is under continual
- expansion, and information stored on it is subject to change from time to
- time.
-
- This copy of the server has also had most of its filenames and filetypes
- altered,so that the structure should be compliant with the ISO 9660 standard.
- The RISCIX directory, however, has been left "as is;" f filename truncation
- happens during mastering, the correct filenames are listed at the end of this
- file so that they can be renamed after extraction from the CD ROM.
-
- Most graphic images are supplied as a combination of Acorn sprite, Acorn
- drawfile, GIF, JPEG or Encapsulated Postscript, so that they may be viewed
- on whatever ISO 9660 capable platform is available.
-
- For dial-up access, ftp.acorn.co.uk is mirrored by:
-
- Arcade BBS (+44 81 654 2212, 300-1.14k baud, 8N1)
- Digital Databank BBS (+44 707 32930, 300-16.8k baud, 8N1)
- Acorn BBS (Hong Kong) (+852 5477992)
-
- The software in this part of the file hierarchy is provided "as is"; Acorn
- Computers Limited ("Acorn") makes no warranty, express or implied, of the
- merchantability of this software or its fitness for any particular purpose.
- In no circumstances shall Acorn be liable for any damage, loss of profits,
- or any indirect or consequential loss arising out of the use of this

- pleased to give you the definitive distribution details:
-
- "Distribution of System resources
- To date, any Developer wishing to distribute !System, its modules and
- !Sysmerge with his own products has required a Binary Distribution
- Agreement to do so. Registered Developers may now ship these Acorn
- copyright items without the formality of an agreement provided that
- they comply with certain requirements:
-
- They distribute !System together with !Sysmerge and !Scrap
- They ship only the latest versions released by Acorn
- Acorn’s copyright is acknowledged in the documentation
- Only appropriate Acorn modules are shipped in the modules directory."
-
- This agreement has now been extended to *un*registered (ie unofficial)
